Have you ever made something and been like, um why haven't I've been making this my entire life? Well that's exactly what happened with me and tortillas. Why? Because they are so ridiculously easy to make! It only takes FOUR ingredients. Shortening, Water, Flour and Salt. FOUR! Now you can't NOT make them. And let me tell you there is nothing like homemade tortillas with your tacos! Okay enough of me talking let's get to it!
First you start out with 2 3/4 cups of Flour!
Then you add 5 Tablespoons of Shortening
Incorporate the shortening until there are no large chunks of shortening left over!
Next you want to combine your 3/4 cup warm water and 3/4 teaspoon salt and pour it into the flour and shortening mixture:
Work the dough with your hands or with your pastry mixer until a dough has formed
Next you want to flour your work space
Separate the dough into 12 balls, 12 balls = 12 tortillas
Using a rolling pin roll out each ball
Here's a secret each tortilla will most likely not be the same size and it won't be perfectly circular but that's okay, that's kind of the beauty of homemade tortillas! Once your tortillas are rolled out put it on an UNGREASED skillet for 30-45 seconds on each side. It should bubble pretty much immediately!
When you're all finished you should have 12 not so perfect but delicious homemade flour tortillas!
Homemade Flour Tortillas

1. Combine Flour and shortening until the shortening is entirely incorporated.
2. Mix the salt into the warm water and add to the flour and shortening mixture.
3. Create 12 balls out of the dough, roll each ball of dough out flat to create your tortillas
