I don’t think I’ve ever been as obsessed with cook books as I have been this summer. I’ve literally DOUBLED my collection, a lot of it has to do with the cook books I've gotten to review which has been awesome. If there was one cook book this summer that I was able to review that seemed to be built for Summer time it was John McLemore’s “Dadgum, That’s Good”. The entire book is filled with recipes for Smoking, Grilling, Frying, Boiling and Steaming! B was pretty much salivating over this book and I’m pretty sure it’s the sole reason why he looks at smokers every time we go to the store, he’s pretty much determined to get one!
For quite some time we’ve wanted a Turkey Fryer and we keep talking ourselves out of it, what would we need a Turkey Frier for other than frying a turkey? Well since this book is BY the owner of Masterbuilt and the creator of the Butterball Indoor Electric Turkery Fryer and the Masterbuilt All Purpose Fryer he gives you a ton of other ways you can use the fryer. It’s on our most list and we’re hoping to pick one up around November. What I love most about the Butterball Indoor Electric Turkey Fryer is that it also boils and steams your food so it’s mult-functional! The Cajun Deep-Fried Turkey recipe has me drooling for the fryer. Alas we do not have a fryer big enough yet so I opted to make
Fried Oreos.
I couldn’t help myself, we just were at the county fair were I treated myself to some and for the longest time I’ve been wanting to make my own, you know that way whenever I feel like it I can gain 3lbs that go directly to my hips :) Whatever, it’s totally worth it especially since they’re so easy to make!
Start by making the pancake batter, you can use a mix but I didn't have any so I made my own. Take two tablespoons of white vinegar and 3/4 cup of milk and combine in a small bowl. Allow to sit for 5 minutes. In the meantime combine 1 Cup Flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a large bowl:
Once you've let the milk sour add it to the flour mixture
and whisk!
Then add your two tablespoons of melted butter and one egg
And whisk!!
Then it's time to coat your Oreos

Immediately after coating the other side through it in the fryer
After a minute or so flip them
Then take them out, drain them on a paper towel and then sprinkle with powdered sugar.
I went with more of a coating then a sprinkle. You can NEVER have too much powdered sugar when it comes to Fried Oreos, or anything for that matter.
