Just Finished: Matched by Ally Condie

A couple of months ago I was browsing through the YA section at Barnes and Noble when I came across Matched by Ally Condie. I started reading the first chapter or two and knew I had to read it so the next time I went to the library I checked to see if it was there, they didn't have it so I requested it and when it came in I was so excited! 


Synopsis from the Matched website:

Matched follows Cassia a 17 year old girl living in a society that makes every single decision for you who you love, what music you listen to, what books and poems you read, what you do on your free time, what you eat, EVERYTHING. Cassia has no problem doing this for the first 17 years of her life until a series of events makes her question the Society and the Officials running it. 


I wanted to love this book and I sorta did. It was a page turner but for some reason I still felt like there was something missing, I just can't quite put my finger on it! Maybe it was action? That could be the case since it's a trilogy which is apparently the only type of books I like to read right now, especially if they're about societies gone wrong. Matched takes us through Cassia's journey to figuring out who *she* wants to be Matched with and it ends with the decision being made but acting upon it won't happen until Crossed, the second series in the book which doesn't come out until November 1 2011. Despite myself feeling like something was missing I really really liked the premise of the story and that kept me sucked in. 

I give it 4 stars {really liked it} and am adding it to the books I have to own list!
