Pudding pie is pretty much one of the easiest desserts you can ever make, use instant pudding and it can be done in less time than it takes to eat it so naturally when we were having B's friend over for dinner we decided to make some. I went over to the supermarket and got everything I needed including a pre-made graham cracker crust because we were running short on time. When I got back and started to make the pie it instantly crumbled the second I tried spreading the cream cheese on it. I was really disappointed and almost at a loss of what to do and then I thought of our Mason jars and how we have a million of all different sizes and I decided to improvise and I made some pudding pie in a Mason jar!
The first thing I did was mix the cream cheese and the pie crust together:
Next I prepared the Instant Pudding:
While the pudding is setting, I made my first layer of the cream cheese/graham cracker mix:
Once the pudding was set I added the second layer, the pudding:
Then I added a nice big layer of cool whip. When I was done I put my lids on and popped them in the fridge until we were ready to eat them!
I made the fourth one a double layer:
As you can see there is no worry to make it look pretty or to evenly measure out the different layers.
These were so delicious and so fun to make and they'll last long than a regular pie. You can also make smaller jars for smaller more pie like servings.
These can make the perfect party favors. As the kids walk out the door you just hand them a jar {maybe even labeled or tagged with the event} and send them on their way. Cute favor and no messy pudding faced kids for you to deal with ;)
